This research aims to explore Taiwan consumers’ perspective on e-scooter products and services by examining the user experiences of Gogoro and eMoving owners. Building on the demand-side literatures in strategic management, this research considers how firms’ strategies could create value and eventu

ally increase consumers’ willingness to pay. Grounded theory approach is adopted in this study to explore consumers’ experiences on e-scooters products and services. First, this research suggests that consumers’ perspectives towards current e-scooters are hovering within four values: novelty, effici

ency, lock-in and complementarity. Second, by comparing users’ goal framing and emphasizing on demand heterogeneity, this research identifies the typology of e-scooter consumers in Taiwan: normative, hedonic, and gain goal users. Finally, this research comes with two stages value creation model. Fir

st stage value creation is generated by firms, whereas second stage value creation is generated by consumers through contribution of user’s inputs. The findings contribute to the demand-side literatures by highlighting the roles of consumers in value creation. Additionally, it is crucial for the e-

scooter firms to understand value creation their consumers’ perspective so that their demands could be better satisfied.
